Overview

This 8 day takes you around the famous north circuit parks, Serengeti (for 4 days) being the largest & famous for over million wildebeest migrating alongside over 250000 zebras, then the Ngorongoro crater being the highlighted park with its beautiful landscapes & surreal view of the crater & it is easier seeing animals as it is a crater floor, the Tarangire being like a smaller Serengeti but famous for the many numbers of elephants & lastly a small hike in the Mount Kilimanjaro foot slopes.

Itinerary

We will pick you up from the airport, then transfer you to the hotel with an optional detour to Arusha city to sightsee the city & prepare for your trip the next day. Later in the evening, you will be briefed on your tour with an option to go to kilima moto for a small hike & sunset view.

Pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 am and after being familiar to the guide, we will drive to Tarangire (2hr drive) famous for its diverse landscape. The park is particularly known for the abundance of Ancient Baobab trees & having the largest concentration of elephants in the whole country and provides unique chances to observe the interaction between elephant families. We will do a game drive through the park depending on where they are reported sightings of animals (mostly predators, lions, cheetah & leopards as they are harder to spot) as herbivores (giraffes, wildebeest, zebras etc. are plenty to see through the park.
Later on will go to the river picnic site and enjoy the beautiful view of the river & animals while having lunch, small monkeys & baboons will try to scare you of your lunch but there is nothing to worry about
After lunch will proceed with the game drive and exit the park around 5:30 pm where will head to our accommodation (Marera view lodge) for dinner & sleep.

After breakfast, you will drive from mto wa mbu to Serengeti which takes 6 hours (includes all stops) as it transits through the Ngorongoro conservation area. Will briefly stop at the gate and view point to look at the breathtaking view of the crater, duration: 20 minutes. Also you will visit Maasai village, its optional to visit and learn something. Duration 20-45 minutes, This is an optional visit not included in the price

Serengeti National Park
Arrive in late afternoon and do a game drive in Seronera (center of Serengeti) while we proceed doing a game drive to late evening and experience the sunset in Serengeti while having close view of wild animals lucky enough seeing a predator hunting or on a kill, later heading to Serengeti safari lodge.

In this day will go to the wider parts of the Serengeti north west depending on wildlife movements, so after an early breakfast will go on an early game drive with picnic lunch, game drive will focus on Mara Serengeti hopefully seeing the herds of the migration crossing and continue the game drive to evening then return to the heritage Mara camps for dinner & overnight stay, Also animals can be spotted on camp.

In this day will also visit Mara exploring the west of Mara, seeing the formations of wildebeests gathering as they prepare to cross Mara river hopefully seeing the migration crossings so after an early breakfast will go on an early game drive, we will later have lunch and continue the game drive to evening then return to the heritage Mara camp.

Seronera, Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast will go on an early game drive south of Serengeti toward Seronera & eventually will exit the Serengeti in the late afternoon heading to Serena Ngorongoro lodge with crater view (2hrs drive) near rim of Ngorongoro crater.

Ngorongoro Crater, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Arusha Region
After an early breakfast will descend the crater (6:15 am) on a journey to find the black rhino, rhinos are the hardest to spot in the beautiful crater as most animals will be easier to spot from this park due to it being a floor crater
After lunch will do game drive and ascend the crater to camp and pack for the trip to Tulia spa & boutique hotel in Arusha.

After breakfast will go to the Materuni waterfalls, where you will do a short hike for two hours witnessing great vegetations, surreal views & waterfalls then proceed to learn on the coffee processing in a small local organic farm having local lunch at the farm before driving to the airport.

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will to, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, hot water facility could be free at lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during off season.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
